How ShutSafe Works
A familiar place for your home’s important information, even when you are not there.
Start here: your ShutSafe setup guide
Ask your household: “If water started leaking and I wasn’t home, where would you look?” Your goal is for everyone to know where the guide is and what information it contains.
1. Find it
During a calm, safe moment, identify your main water shutoff, electrical panel and other applicable locations listed on the guide. Ask a qualified professional for help if a location or label is uncertain. Record locations without operating or testing equipment.
2. Write it down
Use the included marker to record clear directions, such as “garage, left wall beside the door.” Add emergency contacts and the other home information that applies to you. Have a professional verify uncertain details. Attach the included indoor valve tags only where safe and appropriate.
3. Mount it and share it
Mount the guide indoors in a safe, accessible, familiar spot using the included mounting supplies. Show household members, caregivers and appropriate service professionals where it is. Scan the kit’s QR code for supported digital access; keep private home details off public posts.
Your ready-to-use checklist
The guide is mounted indoors where household members can find it.
Water shutoff and electrical panel locations are recorded clearly.
Applicable gas-shutoff information and emergency contacts are recorded and verified.
Someone else can point to the guide without your help.
You have set a reminder to review it annually and after home changes.
The family “show me” moment
Ask someone who did not fill it out to show you the guide and read back one location. If the directions are unclear, improve them together. Finding the information is the practice exercise; there is no need to operate a shutoff.
For realtors and insurance agents: make the handoff useful
Give the kit with a simple invitation: “Let’s choose where this will live, then write down your first shutoff location.” Share this setup page with your client and encourage them to complete the guide with qualified help when needed. Your branded kit becomes a familiar home reference.
What comes with your kit?

Safety first: ShutSafe organizes information; it does not inspect, detect or operate home systems. In an emergency, protect people first and contact 911, your utility or a licensed professional as appropriate. Do not enter a hazardous area or operate equipment beyond your knowledge or authorization. Read the product and safety information.
