HAIARA Power Bank Warning: Check Your Home Emergency Supplies

Safety update · November 6, 2026

CPSC issued a November 5 warning about certain HAIARA W5 PRO power banks because their lithium batteries can ignite or explode. This is a specific product warning worth checking against the charging devices kept in drawers, travel bags and emergency supplies.

Check the exact product

The affected black power banks have “20W” on the front and “Model: W5 PRO” on the side. The warning applies to units without a side date code in YYYYMMDD format. HAIARA may appear on the purchase receipt. Match your unit against the official notice and photos.

If yours matches

Stop using it immediately. Do not sell or give it away. CPSC says these batteries require special disposal: do not put them in household trash, curbside recycling or retail battery collection boxes. Contact your local household hazardous-waste facility first and ask whether it accepts defective lithium-ion batteries.

Read the full CPSC warning and compare product photos. Follow the official instructions for your exact product.

Keep a useful equipment record

For this and other household products, keep a label photo, model number, receipt and the date you checked the manufacturer’s safety notices. Record any remedy you complete. Keep those records private; a public blog is not the place for your household documents.

A practical client reminder

Realtors and insurance agents can share the official warning as a useful follow-up with clients. Keep product recall checks separate from the home shutoff plan: ShutSafe Home Kit helps organize shutoff information and does not make a recalled device safe.
